Q. Do you deliver to non UK addresses?
A. I'm afraid we only currently send to UK addresses.
Q. What payment methods do you take?
A. We accept PayPal which is a very safe way of sending online payments. If you don't currently have a PayPal account there is no charge to set one up and be able to pay for your online purchases by credit or debit card. Just follow PayPal's instructions after checking the 'pay by PayPal' box at checkout. If you are unsure with this payment method please e-mail us by clicking here and we will offer advice.
You may also send a cheque made payable to 'Ideal Tags'.
Q. How long does my order take to be despatched?
A. We normally despatch within 2 working days following payment, very often it can be the next or even the same day. The exception to this is cheque or PayPal e-cheque payments which need to be cleared first, taking around 10 working days. In all cases you will be notified by automated e-mail following despatch.
Q. What are your postage charges?
A. We aim to keep postage costs to minimum and, in many cases, bear the cost ourselves, so pet ID tags, name badges and trophy plates are sent POST FREE. For other goods there are two different postage charges depending on the item(s) purchased. These are £2.00 or £3.50. This will be calculated at checkout and will never be more than £3.50 however much you buy on the same order.
Q. Do you sell your tags at any dog shows?
A. Yes we take a trade stand to various shows throughout the Spring and Summer months where we engrave on site. To see the list of shows you can find us at please go to our 'Show Diary' page by clicking here
Q. How will I know if the item(s) I have ordered are in stock?
A. It's very unlikely that anything you buy and pay for will be out of stock as all items are on an automated stock check following every purchase. Should this situation occur though we will contact you offering you the choice of a refund for the out of stock item or placing it on backorder.
Q. How do I let you know my engraving details?
A. Once you have gone to checkout you can enter all your engraving requirements in the 'Comments' box provided or send a separate e-mail with everything we need to know by clicking here.
Q. Can I collect my goods in person to save on postage charges?
A. Yes you are welcome to collect in person but we do send pet ID tags post free anyway. If you decide to collect you will need check the 'collect' box in the payment method at checkout. Postage charges (if applicable) will be shown on your order at first, but once you've checked that box your payment due will be amended. Please make arrangements before collecting by ringing us on 01284 728844 or 07940 794711 as we are not a retail outlet and therefore don't have regular opening hours.
Q. What should I have engraved on a pet ID tag is there a law?
A. This is our most commonly asked question and, yes, there is a law with regard to dogs ID. Firstly we'll start with cats and other small household pets where there is no law and so it's the owner's personal preference, but normally a contact number engraved on the tag will suffice.
With dogs however, there is a legal requirement for the owner's name and address to be displayed on the tag or collar when in public areas. A phone number is optional but we would recommend that as well. The problem that arises sometimes is trying to fit a long address on a small ID tag, particularly those that have only one blank side for engraving. In cases such as this the minimum legal requirement would be OWNER'S NAME, HOUSE NUMBER (or name) and POSTCODE.
Although the above stated is the legal requirement many dog training clubs have their own rules, especially those operating the Good Citizen Dog Scheme, so if you take your dog to training classes please check their ID tag regulations before ordering.
Finally we come to the layout of the engraving. As our tags come in all shapes and sizes, some with two sides to engrave on and others with only one, it is best if you simply e-mail us your engraving details and allow our computerised engraving machine to plan the best layout. Should you want the text laid out in a certain way we will do our best to meet your requirements and if their is a problem we shall contact you before proceeding.
